The locking feature prevents the tip and the retaining head from over heating. This then allows the tip to run at a coller tempreture reducing wear on the tip and extending its life.

It has a greater contact surface area between the tip and the head which guarantees positive electrical conductivity.

The dual lead thread allows you top rotate the contact tip 180° to a new wear position for extended tip life.
