Traditionally, gloves that offered a high cut resistance had to rely upon thicker gauge yarns to provide protection from cuts. This often meant that gloves with better cut protection were thicker and cumbersome, making them impossible to wear in applications that required dexterity and a sense of touch. The Traffi Glove system of having red, orange and green gloves to identify cut protection, was also often indicative of the gloves dexterity, red giving the lowest protection with the most comfort, orange offering more protection with a slightly compromised feel and green being the safest but often the thickest and least wearable.
Combining such a thin 18G gauge yarn with an F cut rating enables the BMG784 to be used in a huge variety of applications, almost making the Traffi Glove system superfluous. It is now possible to issue a single glove to operatives, with the comfort of knowing they will be able to complete even precise tasks whilst being protected at the highest possible level. This helps to reduce stock lines, make inventory management easier and avoid confusion in terms of glove selection.
In terms of yarn thickness, a higher gauge indicates a finer thread, therefore an 18G glove liner is significantly thinner than a 10G glover liner, dramatically improving dexterity and feel.
The latest cut resistance ratings range from A through to F, previously 1 – 5. A with no cut resistance and F giving the highest cut protection – in some cases exceeding the old cut 5 standard. More than 80 percent of hand injuries are caused by cuts and lacerations, highlighting the importance of wearing gloves with cut resistance.
Splinters and puncture wounds are often overlooked despite the fact that they still represent a break in the skin, which is susceptible to infection. The Benchmark BMG784 boasts a high puncture resistance of level 3 – now a minimum requirement on many construction sites.
Features:
Metal and nylon fibres woven into the outside of the glove provide extreme protection against sharp edges and burrs.
Nitrile foam coating allows warm air and moisture to escape from inside the glove and gives excellent grip, even in oily conditions.
The area between the thumb and forefinger is prone to wear. A reinforced thumb crotch dramatically increases the life of the glove.
Having no seams improves comfort and eliminates irritation and blisters.
Elasticated wrist ensures a secure fit, keeping the glove in place.
